If the windows look dirty again soon after a clean, the answer may be a different interval rather than a more intensive service. This guide helps you choose what to ask for, compare like-for-like quotes and avoid paying for extras you did not intend to include.
IN THIS GUIDE
Is four-weekly or eight-weekly cleaning better?
Four-weekly cleaning suits people who value consistently clear glass and would rather deal with light dirt regularly. Eight-weekly cleaning means fewer visits over a year, but allows more time for dirt to collect. Neither interval is automatically the cheapest overall: compare both the price per visit and the likely annual number of visits.
Four-weekly is not quite the same as once a calendar month. Over a full year, four-weekly visits work out at roughly 13 cleans and eight-weekly visits at roughly six or seven. Ask how the proposed schedule will work before comparing the totals.

What should change the cleaning interval?
Use the condition of your own glass as the guide. After a clean, note when you first notice distracting marks. Windows beside trees, frequently used garden doors and glass exposed to road dust may need attention sooner than sheltered upstairs panes.
For a home in Portsmouth or Havant, describe its actual exposure rather than assuming a postcode determines the schedule. Tell Pane and Simple if wind-blown deposits, nearby building work or recurring bird marks are the main problem.
- Check front and rear windows separately; they may get dirty at different rates.
- Explain whether appearance, light or preparing for visitors is the priority.
- Ask whether a one-off clean or an ongoing arrangement suits your needs.
Are frames, sills and inside windows included?
Pane and Simple’s window-cleaning service covers exterior glass, frames and sills. Interior windows, porch glass and conservatory windows should be discussed as extras. A conservatory roof is a separate surface and should not be assumed to be part of a normal window clean.
For a useful quote, count the windows approximately and flag large glazed doors, awkward side access and any windows above a conservatory. You do not need to climb or measure upper-storey glass.
Does the first clean need a different quote?
Tell us if the windows have not been cleaned for a long time. A first visit may involve more work than a maintenance visit, so the scope and condition should be clear from the outset. Paint, cement and building residue also need to be mentioned; ordinary window cleaning should not be assumed to remove them.
Ask for the first-clean price, the proposed ongoing price and exactly what each covers. The website calculator gives an initial estimate using sample rates; contact Pane and Simple to confirm the current price and availability.

More questions
Can I book just one window clean?
You can enquire about a one-off clean. Tell us what you want cleaned and when; the scope, timing and price will be agreed before booking.
Is conservatory roof cleaning included?
No. Ask for conservatory roof cleaning separately so the roof material, framework and access can be assessed.
How do I get an accurate price?
Contact Pane and Simple with your postcode, window count, property type and extras. Treat the calculator as an initial estimate, not a confirmed quote.
